Beamish bound

"We're taking you to a museum today", announced Margaret, "but it's not a stuffy, dark place, it's where we'll be guaranteed lots of fresh air and sunshine".

We packed a lunch and set off for Beamish, the living museum in the north, which is not far from Newcastle and Durham.

Hidden away in the forest our adventure awaited. We boarded an old Navy blue bus that took us along an old road to an historical old town where we ventured in and out of houses, and a variety of businesses that flourished in the 1800s Victorian era. Continuing our journey by steam engine train and double decker bus, we visited a farm and coal mining village. The many period dressed guides entertained us with their wise but witty responses to our questions and comments.
And, the shortbread cookies and bread from the bakery were yummy!

All too soon our trip but back in time came to end and it was time to travel back south to Bradford.
