Pachendaele & Tyne Cott

On Sunday, August 18, we drove north to the Zonnebeke area to visit the Pachendaele Memorial Museum and the Tyne Cott cemetery where 35,000 soldiers who have no known grave are remembered.

We also visited the grave of Sandra's cousin, Robert Franklin Allen in nearby Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery.

We finished our day by driving to Ieper for supper and the Menin Gate last post ceremony near sunset and cemetery where Robert Service wrote the poem, In Flanders Fields.
