While we have aready arrived in Budapest I must update you on all of our adventures in Prague. This very old, historical city is a "must see" for anyone coming to Europe. While there were many occasions when we all felt a little like mountain goats clinging to the uneven steep cobblestones, the views were always breathtaking.
We managed to take in all of the sites we had planned to see plus even a few more. We spent part of two days visiting eight different areas of Prague Castle including St Vitus's Cathedral with it's unforgetable stained glass windows. We also visited a 17th century pilgrim shine called The Loreto. Both locations were very close to our hotel. We walked across the Charles Bridge to the Old Town Square on two occasions and were able to view the Astronomical Clock which chimed on the hour, entertaining the crowds with an array of dancing characters including some pirate-looking skeletons. We travelled up to the Wenceslas Square which was about about an ten kilometre walk from our hotel. While the National Museum was closed for renovations, we were able to see the exhibits at the Nueu Museum. A bonus was finding the colorful John Lennon Wall near the Charles Bridge. We finished off our visit with a ride around the old city in a vintage car.
Our hotel, the "Red Lobster", was a perfect location for all of our sightseeing and we gave it a strong four out of five. Our favourite foods in Prague were ribs, roast duck, goulash soup and sides of cabbage. The Czech beer was tasty and had a great kick! The Czech wines hit the spot as well.
